History
Northway Construction was established in 2006, but this “new/old” firm has well-established roots in the Brainerd, Minnesota, building industry going back more than 30 years.
In 1978, Steve Northway co-founded a construction company with his older brother. Over the next 25 years, Steve grew that business into one of central Minnesota’s largest construction companies. After serving as president, CFO and CEO, Steve retired in 2003 in order to pursue his growing interest in the field of building science. He embarked upon a second career as CEO of Building Knowledge, Inc., the building science/green building practices company that was chosen by the U.S. Green Building Council to develop the national LEED for Homes program.
Since 2006, Steve has directed his 30 years of experience and his passion for high-performance building into the exciting venture of building a new construction company in Brainerd from the ground up. He and his nephew, vice president Ed Northway II, have invested a great deal of thought and planning into building a best-practices, design/build construction company where quality, value, high-performance and customer service are of utmost importance and employees are dedicated, respected team members.
With years of experience into what works (and what doesn't work) in construction, starting with a clean slate has allowed Steve and Ed Northway to put together a unique company with a handpicked, experienced staff and streamlined construction management processes.
As it continues to grow, Northway Construction is committed to assembling and maintaining a top-notch team, adhering to the very best business and building science practices, reaching the pinnacle of quality craftsmanship paired with outstanding design, and ensuring customer satisfaction with every aspect of the building process.
Northway Construction is well on its way to establishing itself as the leading high-performance builder in central Minnesota and has already entered the record books as the builder of both Minnesota’s first LEED-certified home and the state’s first LEED-certified whole-house remodel.
